Where it Started
With a rich and enduring history, Aviation Classics was founded in 1979 by Al Redick, Sr. Originally established as CIA Aviation at Reno-Stead Airfield, the business transformed in 1987 and became Aviation Classics Ltd.
The family-run company saw a change in leadership in 1989 when Alby Redick took over, ensuring its success as a Chapter 8(a) minority-owned company for over two decades.
A significant milestone for Aviation Classics Ltd. came when Alby and his father became the first to import Soviet Mig's into the United States. This opened up extensive opportunities for Aviation Classics to collaborate with the U.S. Department of Defense, providing Soviet and Warsaw Pact aircraft maintenance, parts, and pilot flight instruction. Aviation Classics played a pivotal role in writing the FAA's operational and maintenace guidelines for Migs.
Aviation Classics has diversified its offerings and expanded its customer base worldwide. While the company's unique expertise lies in Warbird restoration and importing and exporting aircraft, its capabilities have expanded to include much more. As the premier Fixed Base Operator and FAA Repair Station in Northern Nevada, Aviation Classics provides a comprehensive range of services. We ensure all your aviation needs are met. Additionally, Aviation Classics is the exclusive provider of Phillips 66 products at Reno-Stead Airfield.
